Every now and then, you hear a story about a surprise birth. These sorts of stories are amazing to me, but I’m a guy and I really don’t understand the mysteries of a woman. I mean, I understand some aspects of a woman… you know, the simple things which are easier for guys to understand, but there are those mood swings, crying jags, and other really deep end of the swimming pool kind of stuff where I just like to remain safely in the kiddie pool and not think about. But then I hear a story about a surprise birth and I come up with some really intelligent thoughts on the subject, like, “Come on”, “Whoa”, “Really”, and “You gotta be kidding me”. That’s as deep as you are allowed to get when you stick to the kiddie pool on these woman issues.

From the news wire, a lady in Harrodsburg, Ky., had a surprise birth last week. On March 4, Kelly Bottom was doing laundry when she started feeling some discomfort. She didn’t know she was pregnant, so she continued to do the laundry until it started feeling worse, deciding then to try to use the bathroom. On the way, she had the baby.

The following is a repost of an earlier article, giving it a second flush.
I subscribe to most of the recommendations made by the Macho-Male Book on Life, particularly what is said about commodes. For those of you who are not familiar with the word commode, I am referring to the toilet, the john, the head, the porcelain throne, and for our canine friends, the drinking bowl.

I read a couple of reports today on the Internet (which means the information has to be absolutely is most likely true and accurate made up, but could be true), stating there are two words Bill Gates hates to hear. I thought those two words might be something like, “Windows Bug”, “Service Pack”, or “Please Reboot”, but apparently they are something far more removed from the world of Microsoft. Supposedly, he hates to hear the words “cloud computing”.

Now, if you have not heard of cloud computing before, perhaps that is because you are not a geek and you have a life. Wait! There’s more… click here.

I am pleased to present, “What JoAnn Writes”:
Six Degrees to Matt’s Wife
By JoAnn Wegert
Though I do not know Crystal Bowersox, like most folks in our area, I am happy for her accomplishments and excited for her future success as a singer. Since Glenn was discussing The Name Game being played here in northwest Ohio, I have been thinking about the people I know, and how it is that people know me. Last week while in the local coffee shop, I was approached by a woman who politely began with “excuse me”.
As I looked her way I found myself thinking “Who are you?” and “How do you know me?” She recognized me, but I was embarrassed that I didn’t yet recognize her. She continued by asking, “Are you Matt’s wife?”

If you live anywhere in northwest Ohio, close to northwest Ohio, traveled through northwest Ohio, or even looked at northwest Ohio on the map, then you may have recently played the Six Degrees to Crystal Bowersox game. For my international readers, Crystal Bowersox is a very talented musician who has signed her next ten or twenty years over to a television reality show called, “American Idol”.

Her hometown is about ten minutes away from where I am writing this article, and her voice is filling Wait! There’s more… click here.

I spoke about the often-debated prosperity gospel in yesterday’s article, found here. I have had true believers challenge me on this topic, pulling up their sleeves and preparing for a fight.

Ok, maybe not an all-out cat fight, but definitely a solid kitten fight! This just seems to be one of those things where people sink their teeth into the subject and refuse to let go, no matter how rotten the focus or foul tasting the theme.
The perspective is a tough one to give up, as the prosperity gospel provides a path to retain worldly goals and materialistic greed. I’m not saying goal setting is wrong or wealth is a sin; however, obsessing on these factors feeds our selfish nature and becomes a burden in our relationship with God. Wait! Just as my readership seems to be picking up, I come up with an edgy article I find myself in an internal debate about posting. This post may offend a few readers, which means I may lose a few readers. However, if I am careful to clearly separate my opinions from truth, perhaps we can weed out the ugliness from my opinions and allow me to apologize for them. If the truth offends, then no matter how carefully I present it, the truth is still the truth and requires no apology.

Let’s begin with some opinions. Since this article is regarding money, let’s start with my opinion on money:
America really has some of the most ugly money in the world, but at least it is serious money. Wait! There’s more… click here.

There seemed to be a theme regarding God’s influence in my articles last week. I enjoyed exploring the transformation we see in Peter, especially the reactions reviewed in Friday’s article, found here. I thought about this a few times over the weekend, especially Peter’s reaction. What did this revelation seem like to Peter? When did he just surrender to God’s influence? Wait! I am pleased to present, “What JoAnn Writes”:
For Pete’s Sake
By JoAnn Wegert
In Glenn’s recent blog (found here) he spoke about how Jesus’ influence on Peter’s life changed his demeanor and left a lasting impression on every part of his being. He explained how Peter went from a man who blatantly denied his friendship with Jesus to a man who boldly healed another man in Jesus’ name. I pondered the question of what hinders us as Christians from exhibiting the positive lasting impression Jesus came to leave on our life? Why do we find ourselves cowering around the fire ready to cry like Peter did “I don’t even know the man!” What resistance lies in the way of boldly making a miracle-size difference in the life of another? In our everyday walk through lives crowded schedules we may be taking several simple, but serious missteps. Wait! There’s more… click here.

When I was talking about our remarkable source of strength and boldness in my last article, found here, I used the story of Peter and John standing before the temple leaders after the healing of the crippled beggar. I love to consider all the aspects of this story, from thinking about what the temple leaders were feeling emotionally as they tried to silence the young, unschooled believers to what Peter and John were thinking as they were the center of attention for this accusing court of religious leaders.
